September 13th -
Well it wasn't a good day for the team today
as we had a lot of problems with accidents. In the 4 cylinder Lee
drove and after 3 laps the front axle broke and wasn't able to
finish the race. In the full size Les drove and made it 4 laps
out of 300 and got hit from #25 and spun him around into the water
barrels and broke the rear axle and tire right off the car and he
wasn't able to finish the race. Tough day for the team after they
all worked so hard to get both the cars ready for the final stock
car challenge.
September 6th -
The crew worked hard on Friday night to change
the motor for the George Balcaen Memorial Race at Red River Co-op
Speedway. There was a 70% change of Thunderstorms in the area but
the track got all the heats done and the Street Stock Feature and as
the Super stocks were coming out it was a huge down pour. Everyone
was scrambling in the pits to get out before they got stuck, which
we did and messed up the front end of the hauler. We finally got out
onto the road and had to straighten the tie-rod end so the wheels
were straight. Next race will be the stock car challenge September
13th, hope to see you out there.
August
30th & 31st - Ryan, Eric, Johnny,
Don & Lee all headed out first thing Saturday morning for Dauphin,
Mb. we arrived there around 1:30 and got the Truck unloaded and had
a bite to eat. We started racing at 3:30. Lee drew #1 for the time
trails for positioning in the heat race. Terrible race track as it
was very rough and still very wet so he didn't get a good time.
He started near the back of his heat race and was able to finish 3rd
and in the feature he started 7th and finished 3rd. They had
alot going on at the fairgrounds this long weekend, like quad trail
rides, show and shine classic cars, burnouts, monster
trucks and our stock car racing. We had 14 cars from Winnipeg come
out to battle and see who was the weekend champion.
On Sunday we ran in Heat 1 and finished 1st
and then we ran in the B-Main and won that also. In the feature it
went by your average over the weekend and we got outside pole to
start the A-Main. Lee got out in front of #17 for a bit then ended
up going off the track coming into turn 3 but got back on but lost a
few positions. Around lap 12 of 20 lap feature he was battling back
and forth with 2T for 2nd place but was caught up in lap traffic. he
ended up finishing in 2nd place. was a great weekend and we all had a lot of fun.
Special Thanks to the Dauphin Promoters that made this weekend a
great success and the hospitality they showed.
August
28th - Lee started pull in Heat 1
and on lap 2 #19 slid up and knocked the front steering out almost 4
inches but lee was able to continue the race and finish in 4th
position. In the Feature he had to start back in 9th position since
they only take the top 3 in the points for the heat to get your
transfer spot. The crew worked hard to get the truck ready for the
feature and Lee didn't want to disappoint them and our sponsors for
all the hard work thru out the year they all did. Lee got a
good start and within a few laps he was able to get up to 4th
position and a few caution flags kept him up near the front of the
pack. On lap 12 he got by #44 to take over 3rd position and gaining
on #19 for second place. Then another caution came out with 2 laps
to go and Lee got a good start and passed #19 and took over 2nd
spot. He just ran out of laps to catch #2 but it was a good run and
the Team Won the Mid-Season and Track Championship for the First
time in the Castral Super-Truck Division. WTG TEAM...
We will be racing in Dauphin
this weekend Aug 30th and 31st for a 2 day Special so hope you can
come out and cheer us on
August
21st and 23rd - Racing has been
cancelled due to heavy rain falls and will be the final points race
August 28th
August
14th - Street Stock Special at Red River Co-op Speedway
A day of cloud and thinking it was going to
rain again and the races being canceled turned out to be a nice
evening of racing. Lee drew good and started in 2nd position
in heat 1 and took a early lead and never looked back to take the
checkered flag. In the Feature he started 8th and
finished a strong 3rd. Another good night of racing for the
Team. Hope to see you out there next week as there is only 2 more
point races before the championship.
August 7th - Late Model
Special at Red River Co-op Speedway
Lee started in Heat 2 in position 4, he was
closing in on #2 but there was only 2 laps left and lee got by # 25
to gain 2nd spot. He finished 2nd and we gained 1 point on #44.
In the Feature he had to start way back in the field in position 9
but after a few laps he was up to 4th position and gaining on
# 44. He got by #44 on lap 12 to take over 3rd and was coming out of
turn 4 when the leaders truck just died (Distributor problem) Lee
almost ran into him but got really loose weaving his way around him
and was coming out of turn 4 right beside #2 for second spot. Lee
thought he was going to get the yellow due to the #2 spinning out
but the yellow came out first on the #5 so we got our spot back in
position#2. He passed the Leader #25 going into turn 3 but
just couldn't get the bite to keep ahead of him and had to finish in
#2 which we gained 2 more points on # 44. We are still in first
place overall.
July 31st - Modified
Special at Red River Co-op Speedway
Lee started out in 6th position in Heat 1 and
got up to the front in a few laps. The truck was running good and
the track was great. He ended up finishing in 2nd. In the
Feature Race of the evening he started in 8th position and made it
to 3rd and a caution came out. He took the outside line to get some
more bit on the track and had a great restart and got by to take
over 2nd place, he was closing in on Truck# 25 of Don Guyot and on
the last lap he was getting blocked and couldn't get by him on the
inside so the Team had to settle with 2nd place. It was a good
night of racing for the team and we are still leading the points
championship by 10 point. We will be having our Super Truck on
Display at Rona 1333 Sargent Ave on Saturday August 2nd so come on
out and get your signed Hero Card and check out the Truck.
July 24th - Super Stock
Special at Red River Co-op Speedway
Another great evening of racing at Red River
Co-op Speedway for the McRae Motorsports Team. Lee started 4th
in Heat #2 and finished 1st but was a tough going with # 15 to get
by him on the second last lap after squeezing by on the outside but
almost hit the wall coming out of turn 4 to take the checkered flag.
In the Feature he started in 8th position and with alot of traffic
in front of him he had to battle hard to make his way to the front.
With only 5 laps to go Lee was on the #17 tail going into turn 3 and
4 and then her truck shut down and Lee hit into the back end of her
hard sending her over turn 4 and caused a caution but Lee got his
position back and was able to get a good restart and battle with #2
for the Lead. The race was on down the front straight and
going into Turn #1 the #2 Truck slowed down and Lee did a nice slide
job to take the lead on the last lap to take his 5th Feature of the
season. A great day of racing for the team once again.
We are now 10 point in front for the Championship.
July 19th - 4 Cylinder and
Full Size Enduro at Red River Co-op Speedway
Les had to work that day so Lee had to take
over the wheel of both cars. He started in 6th position and with in
a few laps he was leading and lead all the laps till lap 95 when a
caution came out and the EMT had to go so there was a 20-40 min wait
(Red Flag) He ended up finishing in 2nd but there is a controversy
on some lap times as he was never passed by K-9.
With the Full Size (Big
Orange) Lee started 16th and finished 5th but had a great time. He
was in 2nd place but thought the crew was waving him in for a fuel
stop but wasn't just giving him a high 5, he ended up
finishing in 5th place. Great day of racing for the Team.
July 17th - Super Truck
Special at Red River Co-op Speedway
With a chance of rain again we had our luck on
our side and it turned out to be a nice evening of racing. Lee
started in Heat #2 in 4th position and finished 1st. In the
Feature he started 9th and finished 5th but had a lot of damage to
the truck. (The whole driver side panels were torn off and a flat
tire).
July 10th - Sprint Car
Special at Red River Co-op Speedway
A full house at the race track today for the
4th annual Sprint Car Special. Lee started outside of row 2 in his
heat and took a early lead to take his 9th heat race win of the
season.
In the Feature
he started at the back of the pack since the Team is leading in
points but after 3 laps he was up to 3rd place and closing in on
Truck #44. After a caution he was able to get a great start and pull
out in front and never looked back and won by almost 1/2 again Jim
Hunter in Truck #44. Great evening of racing.
We will be out in Selkirk on
Friday Evening for the Demo Derby that Dave will be driving and come
on out and cheer him on. Then on Saturday we will be having our
Super Truck in the Selkirk Parade.
July 4th - 5th Super Truck
Special in Greenbush Race Park MN
Well we made it out there and a very nice
evening for there Holiday weekend. We started out in Heat 1 and had
outside pole. Great race between #19 and Lee and lee finished off
the heat race by winning. In the Feature race he started 1st and
lead the whole race till the drive shaft broke off and he coasted
pasted the finish line in 5th place. Tough break for the team when
we almost had a clean sweep again. After the Races they put on a big
Fireworks Display and a party afterwards which was fun.
When lee got into our pit we found a lot of
damage in the rear end. Broken J-Bar and u-joint and bent a lot of
parts up. We had to get up early in the morning since we didn't have
a welder with us, Kurt Smith (one of the locals that races 1.8 Late
Model offered us to use his welder at his shop. We had a breakfast
put on by there local town EMS which was great.
Poor Dave having to weld under
the truck in 90 degree heat but he got it done and made another
brace so it wouldn't twist again. We got it all done and washed the
truck for our evening Saturday Race. Lee started 3rd in his heat and
won that no problem but was having that missing problem again. In
the Feature he started pole and was getting spun out a few times,
one of the cautions Lee got hit and spun around and almost smashed
into the wall but he saved it but they charged him with the caution
and he had to start tail end. But in a few laps he got back up to
5th and then got by 2 more trucks to finish off 3rd. Was a good run
for all the troubles we had in that race. All round we had a fun
weekend. See you out this Thursday for the Sprint Car Special.
July 3rd - Street Stock Special at RRCS
Lee started 2nd in Heat 2 and finished 1st
half a lap. In the Feature he started 7th and finished 5th. We were
having motor problems again with the missing and we haven't figured
out why this is happening. Hopefully we will get in dialed in for
our 2 day event in Greenbush tomorrow. Hope to see you all there and
cheer us on.
June 26th - Modified
Special and Mid-Season Championship at RRCS
We got off to a great start of the day when
Lee had to draw for position and Drew the Pole position in the Heat
Race. He was like a rocket out there but we heard the motor missing
and after he finished the race in 1st place he came in to find out
that a plug wire was burnt right off so he was only running on 7
cylinders. He won by almost a full straight away.
In the Feature it was by points to start and
he was able to get pole again which was great. He took off again and
was pulling away from the pack and had a 1/2 lap lead from 2nd place
truck when a caution came out. Then off again and he made up more of
a gap from 2nd place #19 when another caution came out and with 2
laps to go Lee had lead the whole race when #19 slammed into his
drivers side door not only once in turn 2& 3 but angan in turns 3
and 4. With 1 lap left #19 passed Lee on the inside of turn 3 and
got the lead to take the checkered flag. He finished in 2nd
place but we had enough points to win the Mid Season Championship.
Way to Go Team.
June 21st - Full Size and 4 Cylinder and
4 Cylinder Demo Derby
Well it was
a long and fun day at the race track once again. We worked on the
Full Size putting in a new motor till 130am Friday and then went
home and got a few hours of sleep. I picked up Lee and wee headed
back to the race shop to finish off (Big Orange) and loaded up the 4
Cylinder and the Full Size car and headed to the Speedway. Les was
driving all the 300 laps of racing today. The 4 cylinders went out
first and Les had a great start but coming out of turn 2 on the
first lap the car died. (OUT OF FUEL) He had to sit there in the
heat of the day for another 99 Laps. After the race was over they
pushed him back to the pits and we found out that we had lent
another driver on the last Enduro the clip that holds the fuel line
on and we forgot to get it back from him and that is why he ran out
of fuel.
The Full Size went out next and Les started
way back in the field but was supposed to start up in 6th
position but couldn't get up there thru all the cars to get the
right positioning. The Flag dropped and they were on there why to
200 laps. Around the 50th lap Car 2T spun in front of Les and he hit
the brakes but slid into him causing the left front wheel broke the
tie rod and he came in. The Crew worked hard on it to get him back
out but we lost 29 laps doing all the work. Then a few laps later
Car # 55 Spun Les out on the front straight away and torn the whole
side off the car but he was still able to finish the race. He ended
up finishing with 171 laps. The car ran great and could of keep up
with the others no problem, we were a top 10 car for sure today if
we didn't get into all the accidents.
Dave our Crew Chief built a demo car for today
along with help from Dean and Ryan. He had a great paint job created
by his daughters (PINK) The car was awesome and all the cheers from
the crowd were unreal. The car died and caught on fire but she
was still going. The fire went out fast and when we all thought he
was done, he got it fired back up and kept on hitting the last car
on the track. But it was so badly beaten up the car finally died and
Dave had to finish a strong 2nd place. Great Job Dave and hope your
not to stiff tomorrow.

Well will all
see you out next week with the Super Truck.
June 5th - Super-Truck Special at Red River
Co-op Speedway
With a chance of
rain in the forecast we weren't sure if we will be running the
races, but the weather held off and In Heat 2 Lee started tail end
and won his heat race. In the Feature he started 9th and with in a
few laps he was able to make it up to 3rd place racing with #7 and
#2. Coming into turn 2 he got hit from behind and spun him out
and and Truck #04 hit the side of the truck and broke the J-Bar and
a rear shock and alot of side damage. He was able to limp off the
track and with the hard working Crew we changed the J-Bar and Rear
shock and a rear tire between yellow flags as there was alot of them
tonight. We got him back on the track with 4 laps to go and was able
to get a top 10 finish. A tough night for the team but we will be
back next week. We will be working hard on it Friday night to get it
ready for the Display at the Childrens Rehabilition Walk a thon on
Sunday so hope you can come out to visit us as we are donating
another wheel chair for one of the kids.
May 29th - Street Stock Special at Red River
Co-op Speedway
Another Great
Day of Racing (cool and Cloudy and it didn't rain). Lee started 4th
in Heat 2 and finished 1st. In the Feature he started 8th and in 2
laps he was up front leading the pack. At Lap 12 a caution came out
which he was way ahead of everyone so the pack closed right behind
him. When the green flag dropped the truck pulled away from the pack
and Lee never looked back. He finished 1st and was the 3rd Clean
sweep this season, winning both his heat race and the feature. Great
work in the pits to get the truck switched over from being setup as
a dry click to a tacky setup. See you all out next Thursday June 5th
for the Super Truck Special.
May 24th - Stock Car Challenge at Red River
Co-op Speedway
Well with a chance of rain it turned out
to be a nice day till later that evening. Les drove both the 4
cylinder and full size pure stock car for a total of 221 laps in the
books. The 4 cylinder race was 100 laps and Les at the end of the
race said he thought he was in 1st after he passed K9 to take the
lead so he said he was just taking it easy on the car since he new
he still had to drive another 200 laps in the full size car after
this race. But he didn't realize he was sitting in 3rd position
behind Car 13 of Mikes. There is a protest going right now between
Car 29 and Car 13 to see who finished 1st so they are checking with
the lap times. We will up date you if there is any changes.
In the
full size race of 200 Laps (BIG ORANGE) as Les would call it. Ran
great till around the 80 lap mark when she was over heating so he
came into the pits to get fuel and we hosed down the rad to try and
cool it down. He got back out on the track and got forced up on turn
1 and 2 and flew over the top and landed sideways into the ditch and
blew a tire and bent a tie-rod but with the great crew response we
pulled the wheel off and tie-rod and got it straightened up the best
we could and put on a new tire and sent him back out to finish the
race. He was able to keep it running and was able to finish 121 laps
and finish 10th. Great day of racing and we all had a great time
watching Les in Big Orange.
May 22nd - Late Model Special at Red River
Co-op Speedway
I nice day at the
Track sunny plus 18 with very little wind. Lee drew Pole position in
his heat but for some reason the truck was missing but after 4 or 5
laps it cleaned it's self out and the truck ran good. He was able to
finish in 1st place and hold off #2. The Crew worked really hard
after the heat race to get her prepared for he feature. ie changing
the Fuel filter, cleaning the carb, changing tires, distributor,
module, shocks so we could find the problem why it wasn't running
properly in the heat race. After all the changes the truck ran
great. He started 8th position and within 2 laps he was able to get
to 1st place and never looked back. He won by almost 1/2 lap and
even lapped a few of the slower trucks. As Lee said the truck was a
rocket and handled great. Happy Birthday to his Wife Kristen which
was a great gift to win on a Late Model Special. Well another Great
Evening of racing and will be back next week. So hope to see you all
out again. Great crowd this evening also.
May 18th - Pure Stock at Bermidji
Speedway
Well we headed to Grand
Forks Friday afternoon to watch the races which was a great evening
of racing. We stayed the night in Grand Forks and in the morning we
headed to Greenbush to meet up with Les and Dave who brought the
Enduro Full Size car down so we could set it up for next saturday
Enduro at RRCS. After we got there in the afternoon due to
high winds and power outages they canceled the races so we made a
few calls and they were running pure stock in Bermidji on sunday
evening. So we all decided to make the 2 1/2 trip up to Bermidji
Speedway. We got there around 8pm just in time to get a hotel so we
could watch the All-Star Race and have some food and drinks. We got
up the next morning and had a little decaling job to do on the race
car and had brunch and headed over to the track. Les had to draw for
his heat race which he started 5th and had a great race with the new
car and finished 2nd.. In the Feature he got pole position and for
some reason the car just didn't want to turn going into turns 1 and
2 and spun out and fall back a few positions. After a few laps he
spun out again on the same corner and got hit and ripped off the
front bumper and dinted the new car... now that is racing!! He
ended finishing in 9th position but we learned alot to get it ready
for the 200 Lap Enduro next Saturday at Red River Co-op Speedway May
24th... See you all there.
May 15th - Modified Special at Red River
Co-op Speedway
Lee started in
the 2nd heat in position 6th and finished 2nd with a bad wire which
the truck wasn't running properly. We changed a few shocks and
a little different setup for the Feature and he started tail end as
he is the points leader. Within a few laps he got up to 4th
and stayed there for a bit but got around 19 and was able to finish
3rd but was closing in on the final lap to take away 2nd place but
Truck #55 was slower truck and he had to slow down and took a strong
3rd. A good day of racing again and now we are off to the US
for the weekend of racing. We will update you once we get back on
Tuesday how we made out at Greenbush with the new pure stock.
May 8th - Super Stock Special at Red River
Co-op Speedway
Lee drove the
truck tonight and in his heat he started tail end and finished 1st
and in the feature he started 5th and finished 1st. A Clean
Sweep Race night. With all the hard work over the last few days to
get it re-setup from the damage we got from the week before as
special thanks to the hard working pit crew. Great driving Lee.
May 3rd - Season Opener at Red River
Co-op Speedway
Lee was the
Feature Driver on today's race sponsored by Wilf's Elie Ford
Lee started in Heat 1 in 6th position, with
the track being very rough he was able to jump up to challenge #7
for first place but with laps winding down Lee had to settle with a
2nd place finish. In the Feature we started 3rd and after 3
laps Lee broke a right front shock and A-Arm but kept the truck
going the full 25 laps feature to finish a strong 4th. A good day of
racing for a cool day and a very rough track.
